The Power of Asking Yourself Great Questions

“The only questions that really matter are the ones you ask yourself.”
-Ursula K. Le Guin

According to Dr. Joe Dispenza, 95% of who we are is a memorized set of behaviors, emotional reactions, and hard-wired beliefs.

Whether you see this as a good thing, bad thing, or disagree entirely, our automatic thoughts and behaviors are here to keep us safe and are essential for maintaining previously learned skills – like walking, reading, and avoiding a hot stove.

But when we are stuck on auto-pilot, and within the stories we run in our heads – on repeat, we can miss out on seeing the bigger picture…which can be the difference between success and failure, or the overall level of happiness and fulfillment in our lives.

The key here, is to expand our perspectives so we can see and take advantage of all the opportunities (and even outlooks) that are available, and right in front of us at any moment (they’re just currently out of focus or hiding in plain sight).

So how do we expand our perspective in order to grow, thrive, and prosper?

There are many ways to change your perspective…whether taking a break in the middle of your work day to get some space and a chance to re-focus, getting a 2nd opinion from a friend, learning something new, traveling the world, or asking yourself great questions (one of my personal favs).

Since I’m always committed to widening my perspective and love sharing openly and vulnerably on the People Being Real Podcast, I invited listeners to submit great thought-provoking questions this week, and here are the 5 that stood out to me (which I answered in this week’s episode).

•“When’s the last time you asked yourself how fulfilled you are right in this moment?”
•“What’s the magnetic force of your heart pulling you into next?”
•“What are your greatest fears and what have you done to overcome them?”
•“How do you give love?”
•“Are you ready to die?”

I love these questions because they all have a common theme of ‘stepping into your light’ (something we can all do more of – MYSELF INCLUDED), and I personally found the opportunity to answer them super valuable and empowering this week.

If you are interested, see which of these questions speak to you, and consider giving any/all of them a good heartfelt 5 minutes to reflect on.  You never know what could come up – and perhaps even change your life 🙂

Wishing you a week full of questions and even more answers!
Mark

PS: What are some other great questions people should ask themselves???  Shoot me a quick reply as I’d love to hear and reflect on any that you have.
